An ‘About the Bees’ half-day experience with our Head Bee-keeper that will provide you with everything you need to know for starting out in beekeeping including confidence when handling honeybees.
An informative opportunity to:

learn about our story and history of bee-keeping in Yorkshire & Dalmatia

understand the biology and types of honeybee, including the all-important Queen Bee

become acquainted with the parts of a beehive plus the workings of an active bee colony

know about the range of essential beekeeping equipment and how to handle it correctly

inspect a hive to discover what an effective brood pattern looks like

learn about recognised illness and disease that can affect a bee colony

construct a hive and know how to prepare it for the honey season, including how to overwinter honeybees
